Urbanex division of Roche Ltd.

The project aim was to restore the visual and physical connection between the city’s lower (harbourfront park) and upper (°Õ°ù´Ç¾±²õ-¸é¾±±¹¾±Ã¨°ù±ð²õ historic district) areas by redeveloping Platon Park and linking that space to Place Pierre-Boucher via the incorporation of a unifying element.

The planning objectives included creating a welcoming place opening out to the river, redefining the social amenities, linking Platon Park to the historic district via a meaningful and site-appropriate element, renewing the site configuration and purpose, and facilitating movement between the harbourfront park and the historic district..Ìý

Jury Comment(s):

“A sensitive reinterpretation of an historic site in °Õ°ù´Ç¾±²õ-¸é¾±±¹¾±Ã¨°ù±ð²õ, transforming a very ordinary park and place into a vibrant urban space. The multiple design resolutions act collectively as a threshold to the historic arrondissement of the city. The detailing is contemporary while the references are clearly historic, integrating existing sculptures of another era with the use of interpretive elements within the design."
