It is ALWAYS better to use a standard form of client-architect agreement than develop one yourself or use a client-generated agreement form. The Canadian Standard Form of Contract for Architectural Services Document Six 2018 Edition was developed by the RAIC’s Practice Support Committee to address the needs of both clients and architects and present a balanced approach to risk and reward.
It is being adopted by client groups, both public and private, across the country. In thisÌýwebinar, we want to demystify the process of filling out the contact form. We will walk through the agreement form, definitions, general conditions, and schedules of Document Six.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of this session, the participant/learner will be able to:
- Complete the Document Six agreement form;
- Relate the general conditions of the form to their importance in architectural practice;
- Critically discuss certain aspects of client-architect agreements that may cause conflict between the parties;
- Relate Document Six to RAIC’s Canadian Standard Form of Contract between Architect and Consultant Document Nine 2018.
