RAIC Board of Directors Candidates - Regional Director, Atlantic

Gregory MacNeil, MRAIC

Throughout his professional career Gregory MacNeil has been very active in other aspects of society, giving him an excellent background for continued service to our distinguished profession.Ìý About to complete his two year term as President of the Nova Scotia Association of Architects during which time he implemented too many new initiatives to list, he demonstrated vision, personal integrity, effective leadership and a willingness to be inclusive, which will continue at the RAIC.Ìý

As director of Jerry MacNeil Architects he oversees design, measured and image-based documentation. He is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology, International Council on Monuments and Sites Wood Committee, the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada and serves on numerous boards, committees and provincial advisory councils.

His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Acadia, Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies and Master of Architecture from TUNS, postgraduate studies at Harvard Graduate School of Design, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (ICCROM International Course on Wood Conservation), and Building, Archaeological, and Measured Survey with Historic England.

He has been published, performed conservation work in Canada, Germany and United States, and presented papers in Canada, Norway, Czech Republic and United States.

Michael Richard, MRAIC

Michael, a graduate of Dalhousie University has professional degrees in Architecture and Environmental Design Studies. Michael is President of Richard & Co. Architecture Inc., a firm he established in Saint John in 1992. Michael has twenty-eight years of experience as a practicing Architect. During this period he has enjoyed contributing to the AANB and to the RAIC; as a long standing councilor, committee member, as an AANB President and as an AANB RAIC/CCAC representative.

Michael presently serves on the Board of the Saint John Horticultural Association and as Vice Chair of the New Brunswick Provincial Library Foundation Board. He was a founding member and Past President of the Atlantic Coastal Action Program in Saint John and the Western Beaches Preservation Society.Ìý Michael has served as an executive member of the Saint John Planning Advisory Committee and the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra.

Michael Richard will enthusiastically share his experience and will contribute to the activities and objectives of the RAIC through a dedicated commitment of his time and energy. He will communicate with RAIC members in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick to create an awareness of RAIC objectives and opportunities; and to the RAIC, member concerns and opinions.
